Have you wanted to second shoot a wedding with a great photographer to gain experience and get portfolio work?! Only to find that IF you get a response, they are never in need of your help, or the experience is not what it's cracked up to be once you do get to shoot?
As photographers that have been shooting for over 10 years collectively, we (Josh Newton and Sara Kauss) have teamed up to create a faux-wedding workshop for photographers! We want you to be successful wedding photographers and would love if you could shoot every wedding with us! The truth is both of us almost always use the same 2-3 second shooters at every wedding. It’s sometimes hard to bring new people on because we train our second shooters so that we can depend on them for a certain work ethic and look. You need to know where to be, what to shoot, what not to shoot, how best to help, and a million other little things. Furthermore, the intensity of a wedding day is pretty extreme. We don't have a lot of time to talk about what settings we're shooting at and why we chose to shoot in that boring hallway rather than the open field outside. Exactly why we created faux/tographers!

Day one, we'll set up a faux-wedding, complete with pre-wedding planning and day of coordinating ideas. We'll talk about how to quickly turn around photos in 15 minutes, the dreaded "out of time dilemma," and what to look for when you have absolutely no pretty spots to set up portraits. We'll also talk about under-cover marketing at your wedding :)
Day two, we'll work through the photos just like we post process. Sara uses Bridge / Adobe Camera Raw and Josh uses adobe Lightroom and Photoshop-- best of both worlds to answer your questions! We'll also talk about how we select images for blogs and how to get those images PUBLISHED! We may even bring in a few surprise vendors to talk about what they look for in photographers that are on their preferred vendor list.
